The University power plant has undergone a major renovation and upgrade. The fifty year old coal-fired boilers were replaced with new natural gas-fired boilers in spring 2012, and have allowed us to better control energy consumption and steam production. The result will be substantial reductions in carbon dioxide and particulate emissions.

Currently the University is undertaking a Carbon Footprint analysis that will be published by the beginning of the spring 2013 semester. Contact Dr. Stephen Overmann at srovermann@semo.edu or (573) 651-2386.
