Supplemental Instruction (SI) is provided through Learning Assistance Programs. SI sessions are offered for select courses each fall and spring semester.

SI Leaders plan and facilitate twice-a-week group study sessions for their assigned course. These sessions focus on building students' understanding of the course content through fun and interactive activities that students complete with their classmates. Students can also develop or improve their note-taking, test-taking, and study skills by attending SI sessions.

SI sessions are open to all students enrolled in a course-section supported by Supplemental Instruction. Research conducted by the International Center for Supplemental Instruction shows that students who regularly attend SI sessions tend to earn higher final grades and are less likely to withdraw from the course.

Nationally Accredited

Southeast’s SI is only one of two Missouri schools to be accredited through the International Center for Supplemental Instruction.

Being a part of University Tutorial Services has greatly improved my abilities as a leader and helped develop new skills that will transfer to my future career as an educator. Tutorial Services is a great service to utilize when I'm struggling in a particular course and need help from a fellow student who has taken it before and knows what to expect. As a tutor and Supplemental Instruction Leader myself, it's rewarding to see students return to a session with good news regarding test results or a grade improvement after we've worked together. To see excitement on a student's face when they improve their knowledge and understanding and become more independent, it makes me feel so proud for them and myself as a tutor and SI Leader.
