Exhibition/Expedition/Exposition, an exhibition of works by Avery Johnson and Jo Mitchell, will be on view from Friday, April 4 through Friday, April 25 at The Nest Gallery in the Seminary Building on River Campus.
Avery Johnson is from Troy, MO and is pursuing a BFA in Art. He hopes to become an art teacher one day. He enjoys nerding-out over superheroes and comic books, both of which influence his work and storytelling process.
Jo Mitchell is from Paragould, Arkansas and is a writer and artist specializing in digital artwork and double majoring in Art & Writing. She works part-time as the graphic designer for the The Arrow in addition to being a novelist in her free time. Her love of storytelling affects how she creates her visual art.
In Exhibition/Expedition/Exposition, Johnson and Mitchell combine storytelling and comic-style artwork to tell the story of how they first met. In their collaborations, Johnson draws and measures each piece while Mitchell inks and colors the art. Exhibition/Expedition/Exposition is an experience of friendship, serendipity, and finding connection in the places you least expect it.
An opening reception Exhibition/Expedition/Exposition will take place on Friday, April 4 from 5-7 p.m. in the Nest Gallery.
