Dissonance, an exhibition of works by Allison Heckmann and Lucas Martin, will be on view from Friday, March 7 through Friday, March 28 at The Nest Gallery in the Seminary Building on River Campus.
Allison Heckmann and Lucas Martin are both freshman at Southeast Missouri State University, pursuing BFAs in art. Allison prefers working with colored pencil and mixed media, while Lucas mainly works in graphite. Although they have different ways of creating, they both share a love for drawing.
“Dissonance” is defined as lacking harmony, combining the unsuitable or unusual. Artists Allison Heckmann and Lucas Martin create pieces that demonstrate this notion by using contradictory themes within their work. They achieve this through the use of different materials and subject matter. The works in this exhibition explore the themes of comedy, irony, confusion, and the unusual.
An opening reception for Dissonance will take place on Friday, March 7 from 5-7p.m. in the Nest Gallery.
The Nest Gallery is an intimate exhibition space reserved for students interested in solo or group exhibitions. It is located on the first floor of the Seminary Building.
