The Office of Residence Life offers employment opportunities to those seeking professional staff, student staff or summer staff employment. Some opportunities have specific timelines, while others accept applications all year. Check back here for information on selection timelines throughout the year.
The goal for residence life staff is to support and increase student engagement in the university community, which will lead to increased persistence and higher graduation rates. In order to increase student engagement, residence life staff members assess the needs of their communities and implement strategies and programs to meet their desired outcomes.
The Resident Assistant is a specially selected paraprofessional, live-in member of the residence hall staff. The Resident Assistant works under the direction of the Area Coordinator/Hall Director in fulfilling a role extending into many aspects of the resident’s well-being. They are responsible for developing a strong community that welcomes and supports students by establishing personal relationships with each student living in their community. They become a resource for personal issues and co-curricular opportunities and are responsible for ensuring that students have access to programs and services designated to support personal and academic success.

Your application is completed through the MySoutheast portal and you'll be walked through each step of the way once you reach the Residence Life Housing Portal.
1. Log in to MySoutheast at portal.semo.edu.
2. Select the "Student SS" tab at the top of the page.
3. Locate the Residence Life channel and select the "Residence Life Housing Portal." From there you will be directed on how to proceed.
4. A new Internet tab will open.
5. Click on Residence Life Housing Portal.
6. Click on appropriate student classification, New Students or Current/Returning Students.
7. Click on RA Application.
· Enter your Southeast student ID number and click Run.
· Follow the instructions on each page of the application.
· You may save your progress and return as needed.

The Graduate Hall Director is a full-time graduate student that serves as a live-in professional staff member with the Office of Residence Life. They are the primary staff member responsible for the student development program within their assigned Residence Hall, including supervision and advisement of student staff and hall representatives, program development and implementation, and administration, with the goal to enhance student development in the residence halls.
The Graduate Assistant for Residence Hall Operations is a full-time graduate student that serves as the primary staff member responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Towers Customer Service Desk (desk and mailroom) and night security services for the Office of Residence Life. This is a live-on position, which involves a level of accessibility and accountability to all students and staff, and includes management of situations and emergencies, which may occur at any time of day or night.
The Graduate Assistant for Administrative Operations is a part-time position for full-time graduate students. The Graduate Assistant for Information Systems and Administrative Operations is responsible for student facing module of the housing management system. This includes creating and updating templates for data collection and analysis, assignment of students to residential spaces. Assist with check-in, room changes, break housing notifications and other duties as assigned. The primary function of this position is to help maintain the data management system used to support the residential operation. This position contributes to the creation of community and personal development of students living in the residential communities.
The Graduate Assistant for Marketing, Publicity/Operations is a part-time position for full-time graduate students. The primary function of this position is to contribute to the creation of a comfortable community conducive to the academic success and personal development of undergraduate staff and/or students. The Graduate Assistant for Marketing and Operations is responsible for marketing and promotions of the Office of Residence Life programs, services and events. Additional responsibilities include assisting with assignments and operational activities.
The Project Crew is a paraprofessional staff member of the Office of Residence Life. The Project Crew works under the direction of the Assistant Director for Facilities and Operations. Success of the housing portion of the Residence Life program is dependent upon the performance of the Project Crew.
The Summer Operations Assistant is a paraprofessional, live-in member of the residence hall staff and works under the direction of the Area Coordinators. The Summer Operations Assistant works with both Summer School residents and the Summer Camps and Conferences program. The Summer Operations Assistant will serve as a resource to Summer School residents and enforce University policy. For the Summer Camps and Conferences program, in many cases, camp is a conference attendee’s first experience with Southeast and possible initial exposure to life on a college campus. Therefore, staff must possess a great attitude and maintain excellent customer service to make a great impression of Southeast. Camps are an excellent way to engage future students, and we have an opportunity to recruit a future Redhawk.
