The Business Learning Community will allow for students of all business majors to link general studies and their major immediately. Students will learn about their future profession through course work and interactions with business faculty and advisors. This program integrates first-year students into the Harrison College of Business and Computing and allows for opportunities to create relationships with faculty early in their academic career.
The Business Learning Community is open to any first year student with a business major within the Harrison College of Business and Computing. The Business Learning Community is limited to 32 students and is open to new incoming business majors. Students participating in this community will take selected classes together including UI 100 (Freshmen Seminar), AD 101 (Introduction to Microcomputer Applications), and SC105 (Fundamentals of Oral Communication). There will also be informal opportunities to interact with faculty and staff through programs and events in the residence hall. Faculty may also hold special events throughout the year. Through these activities students will become better prepared to enter the business world for internships, externships, and upon graduation. The Business Learning Community will be housed in LaFerla Hall, with close proximity to Dempster Hall, home of the Harrison College of Business and Computing.
There is no additional cost to participate in the Business Learning Community. Students will be expected to sign and agree to a set of expectations for living in the community. The Office of Residence Life is proud to partner with the Harrison College of Business and Computing to offer the Business Learning Community as a housing option.
