Cardio-Based Classes

Drum to the Beat: Grab a pair of drumsticks and drum to the beat of the music in this pre-choreographed, fun fitness routine! This class will involve dance, cardio moves and strengthening exercises.

Urban Combta/Muay Thai: Learn the proper form and techniques of a kick, punch or jab used in martial arts style of training and self-defense. Boxing bags will also be incorporated into this class also. Urban Combat is a 30 minute cardio and strength class.

Real Ryder Xpress: In this indoor cycling fitness class, an instructor will guide you through imaginative terrains with invigorating music and visualization for 30 minutes following by static stretching. Don’t forget to bring your towel and water bottle! Only 12 participants will be allowed per class.

Redhawk Fit: Get ready to push yourself to your limit for short bursts of time and learn creative total body movements during your recovery between intervals. This class is done using a variety of fitness equipment such as weights, TRX straps, medicine balls, battle ropes, etc.

TurboKick®: The evolution of Kickboxing!! A Combination of Dance and Kickboxing moves; Cardio aerobic activity; put together to heart pounding high energy music. Kick, Punch, Dance and Sweat!

Zumba®: Get ready to party yourself into shape! This exhilarating, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party will MOVE you!

Strength-Based Classes

Aerial Fitness/Silks: Use the Aerial Silks/Fabrics to build more upper body strength and incorporate climbing skills in order to condition the body and make it stronger. Only 8 participants will be allowed per class and the hammocks have a 250 lb weight limit.

Body Barre™: The Barre system is designed to use small isometric movements in order to help re-shape your body. The surprisingly tough workout draws from the three disciplines of ballet barre work, yoga and pilates. This workout offers fast body shaping results and long term postural benefits utilizing the ballet barre to perform these small movements set to fun music.

Redhawk Flex: Take it back to the basic core strengthening moves such as squats, lunges, chest press, rows, shoulder press, dead lift, etc. in this fun, strength-building weight training class. We will use barbells, dumbbells, bands and other small weight equipment during this class.

TRX®: TRX Suspension Training is a unique total body workout involving bodyweight exercise movements where either the participant’s hands or feet are supported by a single anchor point while the opposite end of the body is in contact with the ground. We have also added in RIP Trainers to add more core training into your workout. Only 8 participants will be allowed per class so please sign up by downloading the app REC*IT Fitness.

Lunch Xpress Series (Muscles, Pilates, Yoga Flow, TRX, Aerial Yoga & BodyBarre™): These classes are for busy people who want their fitness on the go! In 30 minutes during lunch time, get your workout in, release some stress and feel better! Lunch Xpress Classes are FREE for students, faculty, staff and all SRC members.

Mind-Body Classes

Aerial Yoga: Using a Yoga hammock or silks, participants will work with gravity to explore, refine and advance yoga postures both in the air and on the ground. Relax and realign the body, center the mind and uplift the spirit. Only 8 participants will be allowed per class and the hammocks have a 250 lb weight limit.

Candlelit Yoga: Relax in a dark, candlelit room as your body flows through a variety of yoga poses and postures.

Pilates: Pilates is a system of controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the total body specifically focusing on the core. The blend of strength and flexibility training improves posture, reduces stress and creates long, lean muscles without bulking.

Power Yoga/Yoga Sculpt: This is a powerful, energetic form of yoga where students fluidly move from one pose to the next while connecting their breathing to their movements. It incorporates strength, flexibility, balance, cardio and physical and mental stamina in one session.

Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Yoga: This new fitness craze combines Stand Up Paddle Boarding with the ever popular Yoga classes. Balance your way through this challenging class in the Student Aquatics Center leisure pool. We recommend you wear a long sleeve swim shirt and swim shorts. Only 7 participants will be allowed per class so please sign up through the REC*IT Fitness app.

Yoga Flow/Sunrise Yoga: : In this yoga class, the disciplines of mindful breathing and proper alignment of the body in asana will be incorporated. Practicing yoga improves overall health and well-being by increasing flexibility, strength and calmness of mind. Bring a yoga mat if available but we do have extra.

  • All participants must sign in PRIOR TO participating in class activities.
  • Entry after the first 5 minutes or the warm-up segment is NOT RECOMMENDED.
  • All participants must have a SRC membership or Group Fitness Passto attend a group fitness class except Lunch Express classes.
  • Lunch Express classes do not require participants to have a SRC membership or a valid Group Fitness pass. Those without a SRC membership, however, are REQUIRED TO sign in at the Operation Center to access the facility.
  • Group Fitness Semester Passes are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE and only valid for the current semester.
  • Classes with TWO OR LESS PARTICIPANTS are subject to cancellation.
  • Classes that get cancelled due to low attendance for three consecutive weeks will be removed from the schedule.

Our group fitness instructors are either certified with nationally recognized fitness organizations such as Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), American Council on Exercise (ACE), and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or in the process of obtaining a certification. Most of our group fitness instructors are Southeast students who are in exercise science or health promotion majors.

Improve your dance skills and endurance in this fun twist on cardio with a combination of weight training moves! You don’t have to be a dance major, just know how to have fun!
