Dr. Lily Santoro is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History and the Historic Preservation Program. She teaches courses in early American History, the Atlantic World, and Women’s History. She also offers courses in archives and collections management in the Historic Preservation program.

Her research is focused on religion, science, and popular culture in the early American republic (1776-1830). She has recently published an article on the popularization of science in early national Philadelphia, and is working on a larger project that looks at the intersection of religious beliefs, popular science and citizenship in the early United States. She has also studied popular print culture in the Atlantic world, leading to a published chapter on late eighteenth-century British and American almanacs.

Dr. Santoro earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in American History from the University of Delaware and completed her B.A. in History at the University of Southern California.
