Lisa Essmyer is an Instructor in the Hospitality Management Program in the Department of Management, teaching HM205, Basic Culinary Techniques, HM350, Advanced Culinary Practices, and HM416, Quantity Food Production. She is better known to her students as “Chef” or “Chef Essmyer”. Much of her hospitality industry experience comes from her time at the Ritz-Carlton, Orlando, Grande Lakes, Florida. She had the fortune of working with notable culinary figures during her tenure at the Ritz as well as gaining valuable industry experience through working in the many outlets the Grande Lakes Resort location had to offer. Chef Essmyer’s students also handle the catering for Catapult Creative House, a creative lab incubator with a focus in entrepreneurship.

She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Art Education and her MA in Education from the University of Missouri – Columbia. She also completed an AA degree in Culinary School at Le Cordon Bleu in Orlando, Florida. Her passions include spending time with family and entertaining friends as well as art, music, food, wine, travel and active outdoor activities.
