The Redhawk Health Educators are a group of Southeast students who are Certified Peer Educators and ready to help you with a health or wellness related problem. Student health educators are available through the Southeast Recreational Services to talk to students having issues with a variety of topics or to present educational health and wellness programs to other student groups such as residence hall communities, Greek chapters, UI100 classes, student organizations and clubs, outside campus organizations, and anyone else who is interested in learning more about one or more of these topics.

New Programs for Fall 2019:
Do you know how many hours it takes you to get back to ZERO BAC after a certain amount of drinks? This program is designed to educate and promote the safe and responsible consumption of alcohol. Educate yourself on staying safe, take part in an activity such as the drunk goggles obstacle course, fill out a steer sober pledge and grab some free stuff with important numbers to call if you are in a bind. Stop keeping things a secret and let’s talk about sex! Sometimes college is a time of some uncertainty and confusion about sex and sexual activity. Let our Redhawk Health Educators come and educate and answer questions on how to maintain good sexual health and take the proper precautions on sexual behavior and preventing STIs. Also, learn about important contraceptive devices and decorate condoms for fun. Sign up for this program here.
Experience the freedom of discovering your authentic self! Most of us wear a mask, a persona, an external face that hides our insecurities and deepest feelings. We present ourselves as always happy, put together, and in control. This expressive arts program will help you unveil your authentic self and learn skills to see others as they truly are. Stressed out? Struggling with getting a good night’s rest? Is it leading to more stress? Or perhaps you are just stressed out in general due to the demands of everyday life? Learn some tips on how to keep your stress levels down during the college years in addition to finding some activities to allow you to handle your stress better. This program will provide a fun, interactive guide to stress reduction as well and taking part in activities such mindfulness training, making stress balls or creating mindfulness jars. Having trouble getting to the Rec? Let us buddy you up two-on-one or with a small group to get your workout in! You and a friend have access to a personal trainer at the Rec for one free session to learn how to work out properly. Then you continue to meet with your new fitness friend and work out on a regular basis. It always helps to have that person waiting for you to motivate you to get your work out in.
