Opening Week is just around the corner! Just a few helpful reminders to help you, and any students you may encounter, have the best possible experience as our campus community returns for Fall 2018.

August 6-10

  • Resident Assistants are already on campus for training, as well as many of our student athletes and international students have begun arriving.

Sunday, August 12

  • Meal plan service begins with dinner
  • Early arrivals begin moving into residence halls

Monday, August 13

  • International Orientation begins

Tuesday, August 14

  • SE101 Training (for faculty and staff who have registered to participate)
  • Greek students move into the residence halls

Wednesday, August 15

  • International student enrollment
  • Move-in day volunteers arrive (more than 1,000 students are already in the residence halls by the end of the day)

Thursday, August 16

  • Move In Day!
    • Centralized move-in for all students arriving on this day is at the Student Recreation Center from 6am-2pm. Students should not go to their buildings until they have completed the check-in process. For more details, please visit http://semo.edu/pdf/ResLife-2018FallNewStudentMove-InGuide.pdf.     • Vendor space for Move-In Day is still available. To register, please contact Allan Mauk at amauk@semo.edu
    • Volunteer opportunities are still available to help students move into their residence halls. Complete the form http://www.semo.edu/residencelife/arrival.html to register.
  • Please remember that traffic on campus is carefully controlled on this day! The following road or lot closures may impact your travel to campus on that day, or the travel of any visitors to your office.
    • Please limit traffic on Henderson, particularly between Broadway and Normal, for pedestrian safety.
    • No traffic will be allowed down New Madrid Street past the intersection at Henderson Drive (eastbound) or from the Sprigg Street intersection (westbound) from 7am-2pm.
    • Greek Drive will be open to allow faculty and staff, as well as guests and students, access to the parking near Rhodes, Magill, Johnson and Polytech.
    • Should you exit Greek Drive onto New Madrid Street, please exercise extreme caution and be aware of possible congestion and delays as you enter traffic exiting the centralized process at the Recreation Center.
    • The following parking lots will be unavailable from 5am until 2pm:
      • The Recreation Center guest lot
      • The lot at Vandiver/Merick (1-21)
      • The lot at Houck Stadium (1-8 and 1-9)
      • The lot at Kent Library (1-20)
      • The spaces along Dearmont Ct adjacent to the UC (1-23) and Dearmont's east side alley (1-24)
      • Staff are encouraged to use lots 2-9 (on Pacific Street), 1-18 and 1-19 (off College Hill), and 1-25 (Grauel) on this day. Additionally, staff are encouraged to avoid parking on College Hill to allow shuttles to safely pass.

Friday, August 17

  • All faculty and staff are invited to join us at Convocation!
    • Activities start at 11 am in the Show Me Center; formal program begins at noon.
