The inaugural Women’s Choral Festival at Southeast is a day-long festival open to women in high school and community/junior college. This new festival will be alternating with the Men’s Choral Festival and is dedicated to empowering young women through song! Teachers may bring as many singers as they would like. The day will be full of singing and fellowship culminating in a performance that is free and open to the public. No preparation is required; singers will learn music on-site through sectionals and full rehearsals throughout the day. Campus tours, lunch, snacks, and water will be provided as well as music and an excellent experience with our clinician!
Clinician Dr. Andrea Ramsey enjoys an international presence as a composer, conductor, scholar and music educator. Before leaping into full time composing and guest conducting, Ramsey held positions at The Ohio State University and the University of Colorado Boulder, respectively. An award-winning composer with approximately 100 works to date, she believes strongly in the creation of new music. A native of Arkansas, Dr. Ramsey has experienced in her own life the power of music to provide a sense of community, better understanding of our humanity and rich opportunities for self-discovery.
