Dr. Sophia Han

Described by the Classical Voices of North Carolina as “a polished [and] fully professional” performer, violinist Sophia Han is the Assistant Professor of Violin and Concertmaster at Southeast Missouri State University. An active soloist and chamber musician, Han maintains a public profile performing, coaching, and teaching in the SEMO and surrounding communities.

An avid orchestral musician, Han has appeared as the Concertmaster with the 2016 Lake Tahoe Music Festival Orchestra, Assistant Concertmaster with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, and Assistant Principal Second with the Mobile Symphony Orchestra. Han holds degrees from Florida State University (DM), University of Michigan (MM: Performance; MM: Chamber Music), and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (BM). Her principal teachers include Corinne Stillwell, Aaron Berofsky, and the late Richard Luby, and she has participated in masterclasses with Gil Shaham, Jennifer Koh, Patinka Kopec, Stephen Shipps, and Kevork Mardirossian, among others.
