"BARBARON" is an acronym coined by combining the first names of Barbara Bailey and Aaron Horrell as an artistic venture in July 2014. The BARBARON minis are collaborative miniature paintings on Masonite. Each piece begins as an abstract work. They pass the work back and forth taking turns adding colorful recognizable creatures and developing interesting landscapes in an unexpected manor.

Bailey attended explorative art classes at Crisp Museum at Southeast Missouri State University, which inspired the BARBARON minis. She has always enjoyed creating artwork in her spare time.

Horrell is a self-taught artist and manages the Painted Wren Art Gallery in Cape Girardeau, Mo. His love of nature has been important part of his life.

The BARBARON mini story has been featured in the Cash-Book Journal, the Banner Press, the Southeast Missourian and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The article was picked up by Associated Press and ran nationally in several cities including Washington, D.C.; San Diego, CA; and Columbia, MO.

The Crisp Museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus, located at 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau, Mo. For more information, call (573) 651-2260 or email
