The Rosemary Berel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University will present the Bi-annual Art Faculty Exhibition, a showing of pieces created by the talented professional artists of the visual arts department, beginning Friday, May 6.
The museum will host a reception from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 6, to view this diverse and accomplished collection of work. The exhibit will remain on display through June 26.
The Bi-annual Art Faculty Exhibition includes a broad sampling of media that encompasses a wide range of studio practices. Ceramic, paints, drawings, processes of printmaking, sculpture and digital technology are only some of the materials and techniques used by the artist-teachers.
The content and subject matter in this exhibition is as varied as the material choices.
Explored are the topics of identity through art, epic and evolving personal narratives
and the process of transforming a surrounding reality into metaphor. This manner of
intellectual investigation coupled with skillful material exploration produces accomplished,
thoughtful works of art and encourages both the viewer and the artist to continue
to nurture the creative process.
