The Crisp Museum at the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus will host the Department of Art's 30th Annual High School Art Exhibition, "Exhibiting Excellence," from January 27 through February 24, 2008.
The exhibition showcases works created by junior and senior high school students from schools in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois counties.
The public is invited to attend an opening reception for the artists on Sunday, January 27, from 2-4 p.m. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. and include first, second, and third place in the categories of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, fibers, and photography. The artist with the piece determined Best of Show will receive a $1,500 scholarship, and the artist with the piece chosen Merit Award will receive a $1,000 scholarship, contingent upon enrollment at Southeast Missouri State University as an art major.
This year's juror is Dr. Alyssia Ruggiero, an Assistant Professor in Art Education at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. She has a Doctorate of Philosophy and a Master of Science in Art Education from Florida State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz, NY. (Ruggiero's Vitae.)
The museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center, River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St., Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
