The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum presents Equity: Selections from the Permanent Collection, from June 19 to August 9, 2009.
The public is invited to attend a reception on Friday, June 19, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The exhibit will remain on display through August 9.
This exhibition includes works by 23 artists from the Crisp Museum's permanent collection, all of whom are or were members of New York Artists Equity Association, Inc. (NYAEA) or its predecessor organization Artists Equity Association (AEA). The artists represented in the exhibition were born between 1884 (José de Creeft) and 1955 (Peter Colquhoun). Works represented in the exhibition range in styles, interests, and medium and include paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures.
NYAEA traces its roots back to 1947 when AEA was founded as "a national, non-political, esthetically non-partisan organization representing the professional artists of America." Today NYAEA functions primarily as an advocate for the artists' issues.
The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum is the sponsor of this exhibition. Financial assistance for this project has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
The Crisp Museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St., Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Museum Hours weekdays: 9am to 5pm, weekends: 1pm to 5pm. For additional information visit www.semo.edu/museum/ or call (573) 651-2301.
