The Department of Mathematics at Southeast Missouri State University has been committed to helping students and assisting alumni since the 1890s.
In choosing to study mathematics at Southeast you will learn from a dedicated group of caring faculty who will nurture your abilities and challenge you to succeed.
Our department offers undergraduate Baccaleaurate degrees in pure mathematics, applied mathematics/statistics, actuarial science, and mathematics education and a graduate Master of Natural Science degree in mathematics. Our faculty are all accomplished teachers and researchers with expertise in analysis, algebra, combinatorics, differential equations, geometry, mathematics education, statistics, and topology.
The department is home to the John William Ueleke and Margaret Ritter Ueleke Mathematics Computer Labs.
Our majors are actively involved in two student-run organizations, the Math Club and SAME (Student Association for Mathematics Educators). During the fall and spring semesters, the Math Club meets at 12 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, and SAME meets at 12 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month . All interested students are welcome!
The department hosts the MCTM Elementary Mathematics Competition and the Math Field Day contest each spring.

The Math Placement Information link takes you to detailed information about your initial placement in a math course at Southeast and your options if you believe you should be placed in a different math course.
Solutions for the February Problem of the Month are due by noon on Friday, February 28, 2020, in the Department of Mathematics Office (Johnson Hall 201). To be considered, your submitted solution must include your name, Southeast email and S0 number. Three correct solutions will be randomly chosen to receive Starbucks gift cards.
