Course Summary:
The techniques for this course were selected after training in different self-defense systems. The balance must be held between difficulty of the technique, and the ability of the officers. Most officers do not have the time it requires to study in a martial arts system to become proficient. And no single system addresses all possible situations an officer may encounter on the street. The techniques taught in the Basic Attack Defense system are based on natural instincts and on leverage, as many attackers will be bigger, faster and stronger than the officers. The most effective techniques, based on natural movements, were selected for their ease of retention, utility for the street officer and effectiveness. Some of the topics taught include weapon retention and disarming, expandable baton use, handcuffing, pressure point control, striking and an introduction to ground-fighting. Ground-fighting is a separate 20-hour course.

CIT focuses on de-escalation strategies and redirecting the individual from the criminal justice system to the mental health care system. In turn, the mental health care system assumes “custody” of the individual and provides directed and non-restrictive accessibility to a full range of health care and social services options.

The course is four hours and costs $25.

Course Summary:
We in Law Enforcement must be governed in our daily actions by the Judicial point of view. This is where we win or lose, succeed or fail, in court. We can be the most conscientious officer in the world, do the most complete investigation available, and protect all the rights of the suspect, but if we can't convey what we have done in a complete, concise, comprehensive and objective report, we have wasted our time. This writing course begins with the reasons for clear and concise reports, deals with the tense and voice of the good police report, and shows how to construct the police report so that it is of the most value to supervisors, prosecutors and the courts.
