The Southeast Missouri State University Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) is strongly committed to providing both an excellent academic and clinical education for Athletic Training majors. The ATEP believes that the clinical experiences of a student should supplement a solid, but challenging, Athletic Training core curriculum. The core curriculum is based upon the required subject matter meeting CAATE Standards and with the 5th Edition of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Athletic Training Education Competencies.

The Department of Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Recreation is still educating undergraduate Athletic Training Students. The Athletic Training Program accepted its last cohort of undergraduate athletic training students in the Spring of 2020. No new undergraduate athletic training student’s applications will be considered for admission after May 2020. Southeast Missouri State University is currently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), 2001 K Street NW, Third Floor North, Washington, DC 20006 USA. The program has chosen to Voluntarily Withdraw its CAATE Accreditation effective May 30th, 2023. ). The Athletic Training Program (ATP) has begun the process of planning a Master of Science in Athletic Training Degree.
