Reset Southeast Key Password

If you forget your Southeast Key Password, there are two ways to reset it: using the Password Reset Facility if you set it up prior to forgetting your password or by sending your password reset request to the IT Help Desk.

Using the Password Reset Facility

In order for the following procedure to work, you must have already set up the Password Reset Facility prior to forgetting your password.

  1. reset.semo.edu
  2. Enter your SEKey Username
  3. Enter your SEMO Student ID number (S0 number)
  4. Enter your PIN
    • Your PIN will be your two digit day and two digit year of your birth (not the month)
  5. Select Submit
  6. Select to either receive a text message to the phone number or an email to the address listed on file
  7. Select Submit

Without the Password Reset Facility

If you have not set up the Password Reset Facility, you must take the following to the Information Technology Help Desk, email it to helpdesk@semo.edu, or fax it to (573) 651-2200:

  • Picture ID (e.g. Driver's license or Southeast ID)
  • Your full name and your Southeast Key.
  • Your desired new password. Remember to follow the password rules:
    • Minimum 12 characters
    • Maximum 32 characters
    • Must contain at least one character from three of the following four groups, including spaces:
      • uppercase letters: A-Z
      • lower case letters: a-z
      • numeric digits: 0-9
      • special characters: ~ ` ! # $ % * ( ) _ + - = { } [ ] : ' ; ? , . /
    • Spaces are allowed, but none at the beginning or ending of the password.
    • System will check for words not allowed.

The new password will normally be available within one business day. You can also change your password at any time after it is reset. Refer to the SE Key - Maintenance page for instruction on changing your password.
