Southeast Missouri State University is now offering emergency messaging for its students, faculty and staff.

The service allows the University to send text messages and emails to recipients with information about situations deemed critical by the University.

Those interested in receiving the free service are asked to register for it via the University's portal page. Under the Student SS tab, select Update SE Alerts Contact Information in the Personal Information box. Enter the phone number to recieve the text alerts. Your Southeast Email will always recieve any alerts, however, there is the option to enter four additional email addresses to receieve alerts. Click Save Changes

Those electing the service must have a cell phone capable of receiving text messages. While participation in the program is free, those receiving the text messages may be charged for them depending on the wireless carrier service agreement covering their cell phone.

The University plans to test the system two to three times a year to ensure it is working properly.
