emails is to maliciously obtain an individual’s personal information by impersonating
a credible source. The attack is an effort to access your username, passwords,
social security number, credit card numbers, etc.
Information Technology will not ask for your personal or account information in an
email. Always question email requests of this type. Providing this information
could compromise your account and the accounts of others on campus. IT has security
measures in place that attempt to block spam and phishing emails, but some will
make it through.
