Printing Tips

  • Think before you click on print! Do you need a copy or can you just view the information?

  • Preview and make revisions before printing.

  • Files printed from inside Moodle or learning.semo.edu (LMS) are printed using the web frame within the browser. If you are printing a file (.pdf, Word, etc.) from the LMS, it is recommended you download the file locally to the computer before printing.

  • Copy only sections needed, then paste into one document and print.

  • PowerPoint users can print 6 slides per page

  • Reduce PowerPoint slides to an outline: click File, Send to, Word Document. A 27 slide presentation will reduce to 7 pages of text. Reducing the font size is also recommended.

  • Resize charts and graphics to fit more than one per page.

Request for Print Job Refund

Printing errors and jams do occur and any loss of print pages associated with such a problem will be credited back to your account only if all of the following conditions are met:

  • Printing error occurred due to a hardware, server or network error

  • Request for refund is filed with a lab assistant or designated person within 48 hours of the printing error

  • All fields are completed on the Request for Print Job Refund form

  • The bad printout must be submitted to the lab assistant at the time of filing the Request for Print Job Refund form. If your document did not print, you will be asked to supply the date, time and printer location where you tried to submit your document for printing.

Printing errors attributed to the user will not be credited. Examples of such errors include, but are not limited to:

  • Print jobs delayed several minutes due to heavy user load

  • Printing on the wrong paper size

  • Printing wrong document

  • Printing to the wrong printer

  • Printing with the wrong orientation selected (landscape vs. portrait)

  • Page properties of the file and/or web browser

  • Not picking up print job from the printer

  • Printing multiple copies of the same document when user only desires one copy

FAQs

Pharos Uniprint is a print management program that enables you to track your print balance, reduce waste, and enhance printing security. Pharos clients are installed on all computers in the open labs, remote printing release stations and is available to be downloaded on your personal computer.

The print release station makes printing more convenient and secure while giving you more control. A print release station holds print jobs until their owners arrive at the printer and releases them. This allows cost savings and green printing by allowing the user to only print the jobs they really need and ensure that only you can pick up your print job from the printer.
