Before You Get Started with HyFlex

Before you can build a class to meet the needs of the HyFlex environment, you need to have a course alignment plan. For those people who have taught online before, you know what this is, but if you haven’t, this session is for you. With this backbone of your course, everything else will come from that. We will begin with the Course Learning Outcomes and align every weekly objective, formative and summative assessment as well as resources.

Let’s take a deep dive into what your HyFlex course can be! This will be a great webinar to answer your questions about and classroom organization and management. Ideas on how you can set up your physical and virtual classroom: activities, course communication, layout, managing one gradebook, tracking attendance, etc. This session will also provide the opportunity for faculty to share their ideas about they want to use in their HyFlex course, voice concerns, and ask questions.

HyFlex Modality Equivalency

The importance of ensuring that experiences and assessments are equivalent between each mode and ideas of common classroom activities that can be used in your HyFlex course – along with ways of creating academic integrity (i.e. proctoring)--cannot be overstated. The UDL guidelines help with this. This webinar will also include effective communication tools and strategies to help communicate the goals and objectives of the course to your students.

Using Zoom for HyFlex and other Tech Tools

This webinar will show you how to utilize Zoom for your online synchronous portion of your HyFlex course. You will learn how to create reoccurring Zoom meetings, share the Zoom meetings with students, use the recording feature, how to navigate between screens, and create Zoom breakout rooms. In addition, other Tech Tools you can use will be discussed and demonstrated.
