Office: International Village, Room 124J
I studied at University of Northern Iowa (B.A.), University of Oklahoma (M.Ed.) and University of Minnesota (Ed.D.). I came to work at SEMO in July 2016. Prior to that, I worked in international education at Northern Michigan University, Western Illinois University, and the University of Oklahoma. I was also a Peace Corps Volunteer and lived in the Kyrgyz Republic from 1997-1999.
I like many, many things about SEMO, but my favorite is the commitment here to student service and success. I have worked in many places, and I have never seen an institution so committed to making sure that students are successful.
I am still learning about Cape Girardeau, but I’ve discovered that there a lot the great things to do here. I have a wife and two daughters, so I’d say my favorite things to do are things that involve my whole family. We like to ride bikes, go to Cape Splash, fish, and debate which store has the best ice cream.
I am a sports fanatic. I love to play, watch, and talk about all kinds of sports.
My favorite place in the world is anywhere I haven’t been yet! I love to learn about the people, food, language, and cultures of different places. If you ever come to my office, be prepared to answer a lot of questions from me about where you’re from!
A major part of education happens outside the classroom. You can learn so much by meeting people, trying new things, asking questions, and getting involved. Also, the things you learn outside the class can make you a better student inside the class.
