Describe your job in the Office of international Services

I help students complete their application to study at our university. I get to look over each application to ensure that students have everything done they need to begin learning about their career fields in their school program. If something is wrong or missing, I work with the student to correct it.

Beside SEMO where else have you worked or studied?

I graduated from SEMO with my undergraduate degree in Education and now I am studying Theology with an online school. I have worked some very interesting jobs in my life. I worked at a farm, as a librarian, in an ice cream shop, at Lowe’s Home Improvement store, and even at a University in Thailand.

What is one thing you like about working at SEMO?

I like that I can get to know new people at the place I work. There are great staff members and students who I meet all the time and I really enjoy spending time with new people.

What are your favorite things to do in and around Cape Girardeau?

I love being outside and hiking at the different parks in this area. I also love eating Andy’s Ice cream.

What is one interesting fact about you?

I cheer for Liverpool in the English Premier League! You Never Walk Alone!

If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?

I would go to Chiang Mai Thailand because I lived in Thailand for two years. I miss my friends there and want to see them again! (Also Thai food is so delicious!)

What is one piece of advice you would give to a SEMP student?

My advice is, do not avoid doing something just because it is uncomfortable. There are so many things we convince ourselves not to do because we feel awkward about them. It might be trying to get to know someone who is very different than you or not going to an event because it is out of your comfort zone. No matter what it is, you will enjoy trying new things much more if you learn to embrace a little bit of awkwardness and be ok with it.
