It is mandatory that all international students new to Southeast, including students transferring to Southeast from another U.S. institution, attend the International Student Orientation.  Orientation is scheduled for the week before classes start (refer to Important Dates).

International Student Orientation is designed to help you get acquainted with and succeed at Southeast. This program, along with other ongoing services offered on campus, enables students to feel welcome and comfortable. Orientation helps new students learn how the University works, find and use resources, and meet fellow students and University staff who play an important role during students' time here. During International Student Orientation, students will also get advised and enrolled in their courses, if not enrolled prior to arrival.

  • A one-time "New International Student" fee of $250 will be charged to all new international students' accounts.  All Southeast international students are required to pay this one-time fee, and the money is used by the Office of International Education & Services to support international students during orienation and all phases of their academic career at Southeast.
  • If you have previously attended Southeast Missouri State University, you are exempt from orientation.

The first day of International Student Orientation is reserved for students to 'check in' and take care of important items that morning before continuing with the required orientation sessions that afternoon and throughout the week.
