English on the Go! U.S. Language and Culture Program

A lot of things changed in 2020, but you can still follow your dream to study English in the U.S. Our virtual short-term programs include both interactive live classes and flexible on-demand video lessons. Learn English language and U.S. culture by interacting with students, professors, and professionals in Missouri, USA, and earn a certificate to show your skills.

Course Goals

  • Meet people and places of Southeast Missouri – practice understanding and speaking with native speakers
  • Improve American English pronunciation
  • Improve vocabulary, including academic language, idioms, and slang, for speaking with Americans
  • Discuss language and culture topics with your classmates and teacher
  • Practice conversation with a U.S. university student
  • Feel confident understanding and expressing ideas in English

Course Dates and Times

  • January 11 – February 19
  • 6 weeks, 36 hours
  • Live classes 3 hours/week, Mondays and Wednesdays, choose which is best for you:
    • Session A: 7:00 - 8:30 U.S. Central Standard Time, or
    • Session B: 14:00-15:30 U.S. Central Standard Time
  • On-demand classes and activities: approximately 2 hours/week, complete any time of day
  • Conversation Partner: 30 minutes/week, the SEMO Study Advisor connects students and helps them schedule a convenient practice time
  • Virtual/video activities: 30-60 minutes/week

Course Details

  • $525 fee covers all lessons and materials; secure online credit card payment
  • Instructors are professional ESL teachers with master’s degrees and years of experience
  • English on the Go! works best with a laptop or tablet. A webcam, microphone, and reliable internet service are required. Phones may be used for some activities.
