The Horizons Enrichment Center is located at 2100 Themis, Suite 103C in Cape Girardeau. The center is approximately 1.36 miles from the campus of Southeast Missouri State University, which enables the program to easily serve as an internship or practicum site for students at the university.
New Gym area as of July 2018. Participants enjoy playing basketball, volleyball, air hockey, ping-pong, and other various activities. They can also follow the “yellow feet” and walk around the perimeter of the gym. Thus promoting healthy exercise.
Horizons opened our Learning Garden in 2011. The Learning Garden features a gazebo, a butterfly garden, lightened pavilion with ceiling fans, drinking fountain and a trellis over the walk to the pavilion that is covered with flowering vines. The garden will also feature two raised planter boxes—one for flowers the other for vegetables that will be planted by our participants. Our Learning Garden was designed to provide our participants with the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors regardless of their disabilities or limitations. The Learning Garden is visible to the entire neighborhood/city and will hopefully help to show our friends and neighbors the many contributions our population of participants are capable of making to their community.
For closing due to inclement weather, Horizons Enrichment Center will follow the Cape Girardeau Public School’s Policy. Notification of the center closing will be announced on KFVS-TV 12.
