Majoring and Minoring in French

Majoring in a foreign language can open up a world of possibilities. Students who major in French are prepared to apply for numerous French graduate programs across the nation, teach in France for a year after graduation, and enter into professions where proficiency in French is required.

Many students choose to combine a French major with another major to become more attractive on the job market.

Most of our majors and double majors spend a semester or a year abroad at our partner institution in France, the University of Angers.

A minor in French (18 credit hours) is also available. Students who minor in French may also take advantage of the numerous opportunities available to students of French at Southeast Missouri State University.
