The Department of Elementary, Early, and Special Education provides programs for the preparation of teachers at the undergraduate level, and the improvement of teaching at the master's degree level. See the Graduate Bulletin for listing of all advanced programs. All undergraduate programs offer the opportunity to earn two teaching licenses. The different teaching licenses available at the undergraduate level are Elementary Education (grades 1 - 6), Early Childhood Education (Birth - 3rd grade), Exceptional Child Education: Mild Moderate Cross Categorical (K - 12 special education) and Early Child Special Education (Birth - 3rd grade special education).
All programs are available at the Cape Girardeau, Sikeston, Kennett, and Poplar Bluff campuses.
Course Requirements
This program does not lead to a Missouri teaching license. This is a Southeast Missouri
State University certificate only. For more information about course work, contact
