My Southeast

My Southeast is a service provided to Southeast students that allows you to, among other things, check your midterm and semester grades, register for classes, pay your student account balance and check your class schedule online from the comfort of your home or residence hall room.

Open Computer Labs

The Southeast Missouri State University campus provides several open computer labs for student use. In each open computer lab, the student has access to the MS Office 2007, the Internet, e-mail programs through "My Southeast" and a large variety of departmental-specific programs. For more information about Southeast’s open computer labs, visit the Open Computer Labs website.

Ethernet Connection

All Southeast Missouri State University residence halls offer high-speed Ethernet connections. Each room is equipped with one LAN (local area network) jack per bed. Each occupant may register a maximum of two computers. (PC and laptop). The following requirements and regulations apply to students using the Ethernet connection:

  • You must have a PC with appropriate NIC (Network Interface Card) and LAN cable. (If needed, both NIC and LAN cable are available from the Southeast Bookstore.)
  • You must have a Southeast e-mail account.
  • Students are responsible for purchasing and installing the Network Interface Card, connecting the LAN cable to the PC and dormitory LAN jack, and configuring the PC Internet connections.
  • It is essential that your operating system and computer operate free of errors in order for the Ethernet connection to work properly. If you are experiencing problems with your computer or operating system, it is your responsibility to contact a computer store vendor for repair.

For further information or assistance with Ethernet connections, visit Information Technology's website.

Student E-mail Accounts

Students use their Southeast Keys (SE Keys for short) for accessing their e-mail through the "My Southeast" portal. Information Technology encourages all students who make use of Southeast’s computing facilities (e-mail, open computing labs, Kent Library Reference Area, ResNet, or online courses) to activate their SE Key as soon as possible. SE Keys may be activated by logging on to "My Southeast" and following the appropriate link. SE Keys cannot be used until they are activated.

For information on student e-mail accounts and the SE Key, please visit the Information Technology website.

Some of the unfortunate by-products of the technological age in which we live are the viruses which can disrupt computer systems and cause major inconveniences for people everywhere. One of the best things you can do for the health and life of your computer is to keep your virus protection software up-to-date.
