Students interested in pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in Dance degree are strongly encouraged to audition for dance technique-level placement to ensure proper coursework and progress within the degree program.  The audition is designed to give  the faculty a comprehensive view of your technical and creative abilities, training backround, and your goals and interests within the dance discipline.

Students must participate in the audition process to be eligible for dance scholarships awarded to incoming and current dance majors. Students are typically notified of program placement within two weeks of their audition date and scholarships are awarded by March 1st each year.

The audition consists of a 2 hour dance master class incorporating ballet, modern and jazz dance techniques, presentation of a dance solo, and an interview with the faculty. The interview will include a brief discussion of your technical training, your previous dance experience and your goals regarding the discipline of dance. Students will be evaluated by members of the dance faculty on the basis of previous technical training, body alignment, movement mechanics, expressivity and individual artistic potential.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, students are encouraged to complete their audition by video should they not be able to travel to campus, or feel uncomfortable attending an in-person audition.  The information for Video Auditions is below.
