The Center for Speech and Hearing at Southeast Missouri State University has been awarded a grant from the Parkinson Voice Project in Dallas, TX. This grant funds staff training and resources for a speech intervention program tailored to individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease called SPEAK OUT!® The Center’s state-licensed and nationally certified speech-language pathologists, along with graduate students who will also have received training in the SPEAK OUT!® program, will provide this intervention at no cost to persons with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
This program is flexible in scheduling depending on the needs of the individual. Participation in the program consists of 2 to 3 individual one-hour appointments per week for 3 to 4 weeks.
