Digital Art

The digital art specialization’s main priority is on the fine art and creative application of digital technologies. In the upper-level classes and the BFA capstone, students develop advanced skills in their preferred tools. Students are encouraged to blend digital components together and work in mixed-media techniques. Depending on students’ interests, they are advised to take electives in areas that will enhance their skill set. Professionals in digital art fields demand that new hires are able to think outside the proverbial box, to use technology in new and unexpected ways, and to demonstrate innovative concepts and perspectives. Our faculty strive to help students accomplish this feat by instilling in them a strong sense of art history and contemporary media culture. Our alumni community is close-knit and use their contacts to help recent graduates obtain digital art related jobs in Kansas City and St. Louis, and as far away as Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, and China.
