A free service provided to Cape, Perry, Scott and Bollinger County residents age 60 and older.
Project Mission: The APPLE Project is a comprehensive paperwork service which supports the independence of senior adults by providing persons age 60 and older with counseling, advocacy, education and direct assistance with their paperwork needs. The service includes, but is not limited to:
Project Development: The APPLE Project began in 1994 as a program of the Department of Human Environmental Studies in the College of Health and Human Services at Southeast Missouri State University. Grants from the Senior Citizens’ Services Fund Board of Cape Girardeau County, Aging Matters, Southeast Missouri United Way and Missouri Foundation for Health, and client donations fund the Project.
Program Outreach: The APPLE Project provides services at a variety of community sites, which are convenient and familiar to senior adults. These include the Project’s office, senior citizen centers, residential complexes and satellite sites in selected rural communities. Home visits are made to the homebound. The Project’s services are publicized through brochures, newspaper articles, senior center and nutrition site schedules, local human service agencies, the CLAIM program and presentations to community organizations.
