Advising and Registration Guidance

Is Fall 2020 Priority Registration the same? Yes, enrollment for fall begins on April 13. Find your first date to enroll (priority registration date) in the current student checklist

Is Academic Advising required to register Fall 2020? Under normal circumstances, every student is expected to meet with an advisor prior to enrollment and we strongly advise students to seek guidance from an advisor before enrolling for fall 2020. However, we do understand some of you are prepared to enroll without guidance from an advisor. Advising is strongly recommended, but not required for fall 2020. Please carefully review your degree requirements in Degree Works before enrolling.

Will I need a PIN number to register? No, a registration PIN will not be required for summer/fall 2020 enrollment.

Who is my advisor? Advisor name and contact information is viewable in the current student checklist.(You can also see your advisor in SupportNET.)

What is the process to meet with an advisor?

  • Faculty Advisor

Students should review their degree requirements in Degree Works and make a list of courses they wish to take in summer/fall 2020. When this is complete, email the faculty advisor and include the courses you wish to take in summer/fall 2020.

  • Professional Advisors – All locations including Academic Hall, Seabaugh Polytechnic Building, Kennett, Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, Cape College Center

If you have an appointment scheduled, you will receive an email the day of the appointment. The email will include course recommendations for fall 2020, your priority registration date, and instructions to complete the advising appointment by phone and/or email. If you have not completed advising (or have an appointment scheduled) for summer/fall, please schedule an advising appointment in SupportNET.

If an advisor sends you questions via email, please respond as soon as possible.

  • Southeast Online Programs

All Southeast Online advising will continue with current advising processes, using email and/or phone.

  • After advising is complete, how do I enroll?

Registration is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Advising Guidance for Spring 2020

When is the deadline to add a 2nd 8-week course? The deadline has been extended to Friday, March 27 Refund schedules have been adjusted as well for students who drop a 2nd 8-week course.

What if I am unable to complete a course? You have several options:

  1. Contact your faculty to determine if alternate ways are available to complete a course.
  2. Consider a grade of incomplete. For students currently enrolled in a face to face or ITV course that is changed to remote/online format due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, a temporary change to the incomplete grade policy has been established. A grade of Incomplete (‘I’) may be given when a student is doing passing work but is unable to complete all of the requirements because of unusual circumstances acceptable to the instructor and in the circumstances described above. For the spring 2020 term only, an ‘I’ may be agreed to from the mid-point of the semester or part of term through the end of the spring 2020 term. An ‘I’ may not be used to permit a student to repeat a course or to improve a grade. Both the student and the instructor must agree to the requirements for completing the course. An Incomplete must be removed during the next semester, exclusive of the summer semester, or a grade of ‘F’ will be recorded. Students should not reenroll in courses in which they have received an ‘I’ grade.
  3. The last day to drop a full semester class/withdraw from the university is Friday. April 24.
