What You'll Do

As an interdisciplinary major at Southeast, you’ll earn the communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills employers are looking for. More specifically, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Take general studies courses to build a solid foundation of knowledge.
  • Continue working, secure an internship or balance life’s other responsibilities by taking online courses.
  • Work with experienced faculty across disciplines to create a varied professional network.

What Can You Do with an Interdisciplinary Studies Degree?

An interdisciplinary studies degree opens the door to a variety of opportunities. With areas of study spanning across many industries, you can graduate with the knowledge tailored for a specific dream job, or be prepared to take on positions across multiple fields.

The bachelor of interdisciplinary studies is ideal for degree-seekers with one or more of the following characteristics:

  • Interests in a combination of the approved areas of emphasis
  • Fewer than 75 credit hours
  • Interest in earning a four-year degree, without a requirement for, or interest in, a specific major
  • Seeking a degree for personal enrichment

Interdisciplinary Studies Curriculum

The interdisciplinary degree requires a minimum of 120 credit hours to complete, including the general education requirements and at least 39 senior division hours.

You must have at least 12 hours in each area with a maximum per area of 30 hours. In addition, you must also include at least 39 hours of upper level hours into your plan. Up to 21 hours of elective credit can be used to reach the required 120 hour minimum requirement for a bachelor’s degree.
