Information for students who have earned dual credit

Home-Schooled Students Steps to Enrollment

Step 1: Apply for Admission

  • Take the ACT or SAT and have the scores sent to Southeast. In addition to their use in admission decisions, subscores are used for course placement in English and math.
  • Submit the Application for Admission and include the non-refundable $30 fee.
  • Submit home-school transcripts.
    Transcript requirements:
    1. Home-schooling transcripts should include each course listed by academic year and graded (or listed as “in progress”). In addition, please list if each course is a half unit (half year) or full unit (full year). Sixth or seventh semester transcripts are required for admission to the university.
    2. If a course title does not clearly reflect the subject content, home-schooled educators should include a description of the course.
    3. Transcripts must have a cumulative GPA.
    4. Transcripts may be typed or hand written; however, if you are using a transcript service, have the service send an official transcript.
    5. The home-school educator should sign the official transcript.
    6. Transcripts must include an estimated completion or graduation date. A final transcript must be submitted showing graduation date and successful completion of all coursework.

Most home-schooled students who have been admitted to Southeast have followed a varied curriculum. We evaluate all home-schooled student application materials on the same criteria, and special consideration is not given to students who have completed any specific approach to home-schooling.

Note: Please allow 7-10 days for application processing and transcript evaluation. Admission to the University does not indicate admission to programs that have additional admission criteria and/or specific prerequisites.

Step 2: Submit Housing Contract

  • Upon admission to Southeast, you may complete the Contract for University Housing online via the My Southeast admitted student portal. A $150 housing deposit is required at the time of submission.
  • All full-time Southeast students live on campus for the first two years unless exemption criteria are met.
  • Complete your Housing Contract as soon as possible.
    • December 1 – Recommended Housing Contract Completion Date
  • The University will use your preference information to make room and roommate assignments in July.

Step 3: Register for First STEP Orientation

  • First STEP orientation is a one-day program required for all beginning freshmen. During First STEP, you will learn about class offerings, register for classes and learn about financial aid, housing and student life at Southeast.
  • First STEP information will be included in your admission packet. You may reserve your date online.

Step 4: Apply for Financial Aid

  • You and a parent (if you are a dependent student) should apply for a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) PIN. The PIN serves as your identifier to let you electronically submit your FAFSA.
  • Obtain a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the Web Worksheet from your high school guidance office or online and complete the FAFSA.
  • March 1 is Southeast’s Priority Financial Aid Deadline. Applying for financial aid by March 1 will improve your chances of receiving federal and institutional grant funds, low-interest loans, Federal Work Study, and financial aid from the state of Missouri.
  • Financial aid awards will be emailed to your Southeast email account in April.

Scholarships

Home-schooled students who are traditional incoming freshmen will be considered for all Academic Scholarships. As a reminder, applications for admission must be submitted by December 1 for the Governor’s, Regents' and President’s Scholarships. March 1 is the application deadline for all other Academic Scholarships.
