Personal Attention • Small class sizes for first year students (25-30 students on average) and an overall student-faculty ratio of only 18:1 allow for a personalized learning environment in which you can get to know both your fellow students and your instructors. • Southeast is ideal if you’re seeking a mid-sized, safe and friendly place to learn, experience and succeed. With more than 400 full-time faculty, 90 percent of which have doctoral degrees, you’ll be in classes taught by trained professionals, not teaching assistants. • Southeast faculty have degrees from top national institutions such as Yale, Princeton, Harvard and Dartmouth. • Southeast curriculum is hands on, with nearly 100 percent of majors offering internship, clinical and/or field experiences, student-teaching, discipline-specific practice or undergraduate research—the kind of real-world experience that helps you get the job upon graduation. • Southeast offers you preparation for a vast range of career fields with more than 1,600 undergraduate courses in more than 200 areas of study. These areas are offered as majors, minors and pre-professional and certificate programs as well as associate degrees in business, education, science and technology, the health professions and liberal arts. • Our unique University Studies program, http://www.semo.edu/ustudies/, provides a structured, well-rounded education within a broad range of course options from diverse subject fields, giving you a wider range of experience in the liberal arts and life. In addition, Southeast students are given a choice of courses, which is uncommon at most universities. • Southeast education spans the globe with more than 30 study-abroad opportunities, http://www.semo.edu/academics/studyabroad.htm, in such countries as England, France, Germany, Spain, Mexico and the Netherlands, which can give you a broader cultural horizon and a sense of place in the global community. • With more than 10,500 students who come from all 50 states and from nations around the world, Southeast’s student body is diverse. You will meet new friends from across the globe…and maybe you’ll find a good Spanish, German or French tutor. • With more than 150 social and special-interest student organizations, http://www.semo.edu/leadership/studentorgs/index.htm, you can share a diversity of interests that round out the educational experience. If you can’t find a club that suits your interests, you can even create your own! |
