The Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at Southeast are comprised of the Departments of Art, Music and Theatre & Dance. River Campus provides a unique opportunity for artists of all talents to spend time and work together on a daily basis. The campus is comprised of and includes state of the art classrooms, studios and performance spaces. In addition, students reside in dorms which include wireless internet, work out facilities, cafeteria, computer labs and the Arts Resource Center all on site. Studies include programs leading to either a professional degree or a liberal arts degree. And Southeast Missouri State University offers more than $17 million in scholarship awards annually, making a Southeast education possible for any student who seeks it. Many options are available, for every discipline within the Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts. Want to know more?

In addition to strong academic programs the university is also committed to the community. We offer international touring performances as well as free concerts, exhibits and hands-on learning throughout the year for students of all ages.

And this spring we are offering Saturday workshops for younger theater lovers!

Beauty and the Beast

Come be a part of Southeast Missouri State University Children’s workshop, Beauty and the Beast. Join in the fun of learning songs, scenes, and dances. This workshop is bursting with memorable characters and tunes. Actors find their voice and gain self-confidence in this artistic environment. Classes will be Saturday mornings and include physical and vocal warm-ups, character-building exercises, and a final condensed performance of the musical on the last day for family and friends to enjoy.

Saturday mornings – March 4th, March 11th, March 25th, April 1st and April 8th
9:00 am-12:00 pm
Grades Kindergarten - 4th grade

Classes will be held in the Acting|Directing Studio (snacks provided)
Dobbins River Campus Center, Room 114
Special performance for family and friends at 11:30 am on the last day of classes

Alice in Wonderland

We welcome students to join us by learning scenes from Alice in Wonderland, based on the classic novels written by Lewis Carroll. Follow Alice on her journey as she chases the white rabbit down the rabbit hole. Students will learn scenes from this adventurous play. Actors find their voice and gain self-confidence in this artistic environment. These Saturday afternoon classes will include physical and vocal warm-ups, character-building exercises, and a condensed final performance on the last day for family and friends.

So you can see, whether it’s viewing exhibits in the Crisp Museum, interacting in Family Days, participating in youth workshops or attending summer academies there is something for everyone. And did we mention the Summer Arts Festival.
