The Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at Southeast is comprised of the Departments of Art, Music and Theatre & Dance. River Campus provides a unique opportunity for artists of all talents to spend time and work together on a daily basis. The campus is comprised of and includes state of the art classrooms, studios and performance spaces. In addition, students reside in dorms which include wireless internet, work out facilities and cafeteria in addition to computer labs and the Arts Resource Center all on site. The Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts is also committed to the community. Free concerts are offered throughout the year and students of all ages are engaged in learning and celebrating the arts. Whether it’s viewing exhibits in the Crisp Museum, interacting in Family Days, participating in youth workshops, summer academies or just coming for the fun at the Summer Festival; it’s all about celebrating the Arts.
The second annual River Campus Summer Arts Festival features live music, dance, theatrical performances, magic, visual art displays, hands-on-family-friendly art expression activities and an art walk. This community festival is FREE and open to all ages in the entire region.
Students and faculty at the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus are partnering with the Discovery Playhouse in Cape Girardeau for a program that will give children hands-on lessons in all areas of the arts.
The Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts offered our latest musical theatre youth class this fall with great success. Students had the opportunity to participate in theatre games and exercises in addition to learning scenes and songs from Hairspray and this semester we're offering a Cinderella Workshop. You know it's bound to be magical!
