What is the block program?
Southeast Missouri State University developed this innovative program in a joint effort with area schools in 1987.  The block program combines field experience with theory and techniques and involves a sequence of four or more semester blocks. Block I is designed to acquaint education majors with the field of education through actual classroom observation. Students continue to receive additional field experience that correlates with the theories and techniques they are studying as they progress through the block system. The final block is the professional semester comprised of student teaching.
