Facilities

Students in Southeast’s Industrial and Engineering Technology programs are provided with modern facilities and technological opportunities. The School of Polytechnic Studies is housed in the Otto and Della Seabaugh Polytechnic Building, a state-of-art University facility which opened in 2001. The Otto and Della Seabaugh Polytechnic Building provides students and faculty the finest classrooms, laboratories and equipment in an ergonomic setting designed to promote student learning.

This 70,000-square-foot building includes general classrooms complete with the latest instructional technology packages, with 17 specialized teaching and research laboratories. Technology labs located in the building include computer integrated advanced manufacturing, computer aided drafting and design, industrial power and motor controls, materials testing, plastics, quality engineering, computer numerical control, solid modeling and rapid prototyping, programmable logic controls, and hydraulics and pneumatics. A Technology Resource Center, established with assistance from Ameren, is housed in the building, where students and area manufacturers are introduced to new manufacturing and energy-efficient technologies.

Each classroom is equipped with multimedia and instructional technology, as well as, Internet access. There is one interactive television classroom, funded through a $200,000 Southwestern Bell Foundation grant, to accommodate expanding outreach programs which include a 2+2 program in St. Louis. Four fully networked computer labs are also included, as is a 70-seat auditorium with teleconferencing and interactive television systems.
