The Department of Physics and Engineering Physics occupies parts of both Magill and Rhodes Halls on the north end of the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. The Department supports a computer laboratory with 18 networked computers, a well-equipped electronics laboratory, and an advanced laboratory containing a large optical table and modern electronic instrumentation for data acquisition and analysis. The Department also maintains an astronomical observatory, which includes 10- and 11-inch telescopes, CCD cameras, and a seven-foot radio telescope. In addition, each faculty member has research space for use by students involved in undergraduate research or senior design projects. Computers are used throughout the curriculum for data acquisition and analysis, simulation and mathematical modeling.
