Facilities The Department of Chemistry is well equipped with state-of-the-art chemical instrumentation for education and research. The department computer lab has numerous computers available for student use. The department also is equipped with Bruker 300 MHz high field nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, PE3000 DV ICP spectrometer and a Nonius FR590 X-ray diffractometer. In addition, our students have access to capillary electrophoresis chromatography and x-ray fluorescence spectrometry through our relationship with the Southeast Missouri Regional Crime Lab. The Southeast Missouri Regional Crime Lab has been serving law enforcement since 1970. Formed under the Omnibus Crime Bill of 1968, the laboratory is housed on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University and serves 85 agencies. The excellent reputation and expertise of the lab is known nation-wide as various states and defense attorneys request its assistance in forensic matters. |
