Things to Do Around Town: Cape Girardeau is rich in history and has an abundance of offerings for every taste. Large enough to enjoy any city’s standard for first-class shopping, dining and entertainment, but also small enough to allow you to escape to the countryside in mere minutes. Arts & Culture: Southeast has made a great investment in the artistic and cultural future of Southeast Missouri in two of the region’s biggest venues: the Show Me Center and the River Campus. In addition, the local scene is thriving with galleries, musicians and literati. Athletics: Photo of Southeast's mascot, Rowdy Redhawk. Campus Ministries: The spiritual community at Southeast is strong, diverse and welcoming to all. Family Weekend: During the fall semester, Southeast invites your family to visit your new home. Greek Life: Lifelong friendships follow membership in a fraternity or sorority. Learn more about Greek organizations and application procedures. Homecoming: Parades and school spirit, tailgating and chili cook-offs. Homecoming is a weekend for the celebration of the heart of Southeast and the community. Recreation & Sports: A healthy body breeds a healthy mind. No matter what your level of skill, Southeast has the facilities and opportunities to allow everyone to compete, have fun and stay healthy. ROTC: The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is a supplemental academic and leadership program designed to prepare you to become an Air Force officer. Student Organizations: Community is central to the success of a residential university. Southeast has numerous extracurricular organizations ranging from athletics to hobbies to pre-professional programs to social clubs and religious groups. Southeast hosts a large enough campus community to meet almost any extracurricular desire. And if you find we don’t have a group for your interests, you can always start one yourself. Study Abroad: “C’est si bon.” Southeast’s study-abroad opportunities allow for an international education at only a fraction of the cost of other universities. Various Regional Activities: Many Southeast students visit various sites in the Cape Girardeau community and the Southeast Missouri region for fun and activities. Here are just a few of their favorites. Working on Campus: Numerous national studies indicate that working on campus has been linked to higher grades and improved chances of graduating from college. Students interested in academic success will connect with a large network of faculty, staff and community members while adding to their resumes.
