Kaverman Helps Create a Financially Stable Community – One Person, One Family, One Business at a Time College of Business Robert Kaverman, a finance major, recently interned with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. “My main duties as a financial representative for Northwestern Mutual were to help create a financially stable community—one person, one family, one business at a time. I worked to resolve inadequacies in a client’s financial future by utilizing products such as life insurance, disability income insurance, and long-term care insurance to handle the risk management side of financial planning.” “I worked as a licensed financial representative for the company and got to experience what the full-time representatives do on a daily basis. It was a great way to get my feet wet in the industry and see if it was a career I would enjoy,” Kaverman says. Kaverman began the application process during a career fair at the University Center. “I brought resumes and talked to several employers, including a representative for Northwestern Mutual Financial Network.” After Kaverman graduates, he plans to pursue the MBA program at the University of Missouri-Columbia. In addition, Kaverman is actively seeking a graduate assistantship in their athletic program. Kaverman attributes much of his success to his involvement on campus, both in and out of the classroom. During Kaverman’s tenure at Southeast, he held leadership positions such as president of Order of Omega and recruitment chair of Sigma Nu. He is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society, Network of International Business Schools’ International Case Competition Team (spring 2009), and the Finance and Economics club. |
