SAFE RIDE Program for Fall 2015

At Southeast we expect our students to use alcohol responsibly and to avoid driving if they are impaired. Southeast students report that eight out 10 students know that a Designated Driver (DD) is defined as the person in the group who has had NO alcohol. Southeast students who find themselves in a situation where they do not have a sober driver can call the Cape County Transit Authority (CTA) at 573-335-5533 for a complimentary SAFE RIDE from a drinking establishment within the city limits of Cape Girardeau to their place of residence in the city limits of Cape Girardeau. Students must show a valid student ID to use SAFE RIDE. The hours of this service are from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. from Thursday through Saturday. This SAFE RIDE program will be offered for free until October 31st , 2015 and then a small fee may be added.

Please look for further communication on the Southeast Student Portal for changes to the program. We expect students to take personal responsibility for their own actions and if you see someone who is impaired and about to try and drive home, STEP UP and make sure that he/she knows about SAFE RIDE. For additional information, please contact the Dean of Students Office at Southeast by calling 573-651-2264 or e-mailing
