Dr. Kendra Skinner joined the University in 2004 and served as the Associate Director for Student and Staff Development prior to becoming Director in 2014. In her role, Skinner is responsible for the direction and development of a comprehensive residence life department, including programs, services, and facilities, for a residence hall system with a capacity of 3,600 students. She oversees, personally and through supervision of, 15 full-time professionals, 2 full-time support staff, and almost 175 student staff and works closely with students and other University staff members to administer policies and operational procedures for the Office of Residence Life.
Skinner is originally from Iowa where she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Iowa Wesleyan College and her Master of Science degree in higher education administration from Iowa State University. Skinner received her Doctorate of Education in educational leadership from the University of Missouri. Her research compared the social and academic integration of first-year students at Southeast based on the style of housing in which they resided.
Skinner is married to Warren, a mental health counselor in the Cape Girardeau community. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs (Sable & Trixie), following professional football, reading, and spending time outdoors.
